Museum Talk with George Hamlin
George Hamlin will be our guest speaker at the upcoming Museum Talk, "IAH and HOU Early in the Era of Airline Deregulation: May 1978-January 1981". This enlightening presentation is scheduled to take place on June 24, 2023, at 11 am in the Starliner Theater. Hamlin, a veteran in the field of commercial aviation, will be guiding us through the transformative period between 1978 and 1981, a time when airline deregulation was beginning and changing the U.S. airline industry.
Hamlin's unique experience, working at Texas International's Houston headquarters during this pivotal time, has given him a deep insight into the evolution of Houston's major airports, Houston Intercontinental Airport (now known as George Bush Intercontinental Airport) and William P. Hobby Airport. His photographs, which have been featured in various publications and his three-volume "Skyliners" series, serve as a visual documentation of this era of innovation and transformation in the airline industry.
Before his tenure at Texas International, Hamlin had worked with Trans World Airlines (TWA) and later joined leading aircraft manufacturers, Lockheed and Airbus Industrie North America. He has been an influential figure in commercial aviation and aerospace consulting since 1996.
We invite all aviation enthusiasts, history buffs, and those intrigued by the magic of flight to join us for this unique journey back in time. Expect to immerse yourself in rare photographs, firsthand accounts, and engaging discussions led by an industry insider. This special presentation promises to be a unique exploration of a transformative era in U.S. airline history. Don't miss this opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of Houston’s aviation history.
